How has the real estate market changed in Pittsburgh over the last few years? Where do the stars stay when they shoot movies in Pittsburgh? How will the potential arrival of companies like Amazon and others impact your rent or the housing market next year? Have any of these questions ever crossed your mind? Or maybe this is the first time you are pondering these questions and are interested to know the answers? If that is the case, we have a couple of gentleman that know the answers and a whole lot more!

PYP is excited to kick-off this year’s PYP Talks with Gregg Perelman and Todd Reidbord, the Executive Leadership team of Walnut Capital. Walnut Capital is one of the premier real estate enterprises in the Pittsburgh area with over 20 years of history. Walnut Capital owns and manages over 2,000 units across Pittsburgh – from historic buildings, student housing, to new construction. They're also the company behind renovating the Nabisco baking factory in East Liberty, now housing tech giant, Google, among other innovative companies.

Gregg Perelman (Founding Partner & CEO) and Todd Reidbord (Principal and President) will offer an overview and history of Walnut Capital, discuss the evolution of the real estate environment in Pittsburgh, upcoming developments and what to expect from the real estate market in Pittsburgh going forward – as well as some other cool facts that only those with the knowledge Gregg and Todd have can share! Bios on each of the speakers can be found below!

The PYP Talk will be held at Bakery Living Orange – one of Walnut Capital’s premier residential properties. Light appetizers and refreshments will be available as well.

Gregg Perelman (Founding Partner & CEO):
Throughout his professional career, Gregg Perelman has been a trendsetter. As CEO of Walnut Capital, he has brought his vision of innovation to bear in a city that is becoming synonymous with urban rebirth. Gregg has been instrumental in creating and implementing Walnut Capital’s aggressive acquisition and development strategy. A hands-on developer, he often supervises construction and renovation projects in the field and takes prospective tenants on tours of apartments and townhouses. He jointly oversees the company’s property management arm, leading a staff of more than 100 people with vision and enthusiasm throughout the day-to-day operations, marketing, and management of all the firm’s residential, office and commercial properties.

Todd Reidbord (Principal and President):
Todd Reidbord has an expertise in real estate and corporate law, specializing in commercial real estate acquisition, financing, leasing and development. He jointly oversees the operations and staff at Walnut Capital Management that coordinates all aspects of development, management, and brokerage services. He is the point person for the many investor and lender relationships involved in Walnut Capital’s owned and managed properties. As a member of Pittsburgh’s Planning Commission for eight years, Todd learned from the inside out how public policy shapes development. There, he forged the network that would help him understand the impact of his work on future generations and the value of public-private partnerships. After co-founding Walnut Capital, Todd sought properties that simply did not interest other developers, usually because they appeared too difficult to rehabilitate.
